Total enrollment this first semester as of June 27, 2008 is 4, 109 compared to the last year'sa first semester enrollment of 4, 214.


Most Rev. Arturo M. Bastes, SVD, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Sorsogon was invited by the Theology Department to give a talk on "Witness to the Word" to all DWCL Employees last June 14,2008 at the AV Hall.The purpose of this activity is to introduce to all employees of DWCL the meaning of what is to be a witness to the Word, and the challenges attached to this meaning.

The student Affairs Office in partnership with the College Student Executive Board conducted a one-day recruitment activity for the different student organizations of DWCL dubbed as: Step Up and Get Involved last June 17, 2008 at the Quadrangle. This activity aims to ensure the participation and involvement of the students in all campus activities.

1. Seminar-Workshop on Mentoring Student Teachers, May 10, 2006, Grade School AVR with the VPAA as resource speaker.

2. Innovative & Alternative Delivery Systems in Teaching sponsored by the College of Education in coordination with the Basic Education Department on May 18-19, 2006, HS Social Hall. Guest Speakers: (1) Dr. Perla Sunga-Intia - Chief, Materials, Production & Publication Division / Co-Director, National English Proficiency Program, Department of Education (2) Ms. Concepcion Franco, St. Theresa;s College, Quezon City / Consultant, Phoenix Publishing House, Inc.

3. Seminar-Workshop on "Detecting and Proper Handling of Student's Problems" for the faculty in the three academic levels, May 24,2006, HS Social Hall. Guest Speaker: Dr. Princesita Buma-at.

4. Seminar-Workshop on the Revised Basic Education Curriculum (RBEC) Updates, May 29, 2006, Grade School AVR. Guest Speaker: Ms. Norma Samantela, Education Supervisor II, English, DepEd., Region V, Legazpi City.

5. Seminar-Workshop on Classroom Communication Power Enhancement Focus: Common Errors in English - A Teacher Empowerment Course; May 30-31, 2006, DWCL HS Social Hall. Guest Speaker: Mr. WIlson Peñaflor Pajalla, Director & Founder, Pajalla Professional Development International.


The Guidance and Testing Center conducted a lecture and interactive activity for new students dubbed as: College Adjustment 101 for Freshmen last June 16, 17 & 18, 2008, 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the AV Hall. This activity is part of the Comprehensive Guidance & Testing of the center which aims to assist new students achieve success in their college studies.

The four collegiate programs, namely Liberal Arts, Education, Commerce and Accountancy are due for final PAASCU revisit either on Sept 28-29 or October 2-3, 2006 as applied by the school. To prepare for this re-accreditation, series of meetings are now held by the PAASCU executive committee with respective are chairs and personnel concerned, started last May 26, 2006 to be followed on May 31 and June 6 respectively. All concerned are now focused on the compliance to PAASCU recommendations, actions taken or to be taken aside from addressing the identified weaknesses in the recently concluded slef survey which was participated by all faculty, the alumni and group of students.

The Basic Education Department conducted an Orientation Seminar on Child Abuse last June 28, 2008, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 nn at the Fr. Camacho Hall of the HS Department. This activity aims to orient the teachers on how to discipline students without violating the Child Abuse Law, employ disciplinary measures following the Child Abuse Law, and realize that there are still other means of disciplining erring students without ignoring the right of the child.

Call Center
The Divine Word College of Legazpi Development Foundation, Inc. (DWCLDFI) has recently ventured on a project to put up a Call Center Learning and Incubation Center in partnership with two internationally known outsourcing consultants and technology providers, John F. Kennedy Foundation Inc. and Five9 Virtual Contact System, respectively. Since marketing commenced, the Call Center has over 100 applicants for training but after the tedioud screening by JFK coaches and team leaders the number was trimmed down to 52 and from were the first batch of call center agents will come from. Currently, the six week training on accent training, American geography, selling and rebuttles, and product training is on its 4th week and the trainees have already developed their confidence and skills. EVERYONE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO THE OPENING OF THE CALL CENTER ON JUNE 19, 200.
